Genius Consciousness is a supplement formulated with all-natural ingredients and the promise of delivering heightened mental clarity, focus, cognitive performance, and overall brain health.

But can this supplement truly deliver on these promises, or is it just a shrewd marketing strategy from the Genius Brand? What are the experiences of those who have tried it?

Let’s delve deep into the ingredients of Genius Consciousness, scrutinize every claim, and review the scientific literature to determine if the claims made by The Genius Brand are substantiated.

Main Takeaways

  • This nootropic formula includes several ingredients such as L-Carnitine, Lion’s Mane, Alpha-GPC, and L-Tyrosine, among others, which have been tested for their cognitive-enhancing properties. Some of these ingredients are underdosed in the supplement compared to the amounts used in successful trials. For instance, the Alpha-GPC and L-Tyrosine dosages in the supplement are half and 5% respectively, of the dosages found effective in studies.
  • Reviews from actual users vary significantly. Some praise the product for its alertness and focus-enhancing effects without causing jitters, while others question its taste, the inability of the powder to fully dissolve, and an insignificant or strange feeling of heightened energy.
  • The product costs approximately $38 for 15 servings, which is a bit steep when you compare it to a daily cup of coffee, but there are plenty of bioactive compounds in the formula (caffeine also being one of them).

Ingredient Analysis

Genius’ nootropic formula has several ingredients, including L-Carnitine, Lion’s Mane, Alpha-GPC, L-Tyrosine, and many others.

But how effective are these ingredients at enhancing cognitive performance? Is there sufficient evidence to prove that they actually work?

Let’s address that below by analyzing each ingredient.

L-Carnitine

A 2017 medical review analyzed data from a limited number of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to find whether the L-Carnitine could cause cognitive enhancement in people without cognitive impairment.

The researchers found no evidence that L-carnitine had any effect on reaction time, vigilance, immediate memory, or delayed recall after three days of treatment. The reports also mentioned that there were a small number of adverse effects, none of which were serious.

Lion’s Mane

A clinical trial published in the Biomedical Research journal found Lion’s Mane to improve cognitive function and reduce mental deterioration caused by dementia at a dosage of 800 mg.

Genius Consciousness contains 1g of Lion’s Mane, which is slightly above the dosage used in the trial, so it may generate some effects.

Alpha-GPC

An Examine review of Alpha GPC for cognitive support concludes the following: â€œFor the usage of alpha-GPC in attenuating symptoms of cognitive decline, almost all studies use a dosage of 1,200 mg daily.”

Genius Consciousness contains 600mg, which is half of the dosage purported to be effective.

L-Tyrosine

L-tyrosine has been shown clinically shown in three studies to support cognitive function. (source, source, source)

However, the smallest dosage used in any of the three studies mentioned is about the same as 10,000 milligrams (mg) for an adult of average weight.

When we look at this in relation to Consciousness, which has an average ingredient dose of 500mg, or 5% of what is a seemingly effective dose, you’ve got to question its effectiveness.

Methyliberine

Methyliberine is not a common ingredient but it’s theorized that it may have caffeine-like neuro-energetic effects, with fewer side effects.

study published in 2021 found that combining caffeine with theacrine and methyliberine, which are both derived from the Kucha tea leaf, improved various aspects of gaming performance without increasing perceived jitteriness.

Alas, methyliberine is not being studied in isolation, so it’s difficult to correctly assess its effects. Plus, there aren’t many studies on methyliberine.

Caffeine

Caffeine, one of the most extensively researched nootropic substances, has been scientifically proven to enhance focus, cognition, and memory, according to a medical review in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease.

Consciousness contains a dosage of 100 milligrams (mg) of caffeine, which is approximately twice the amount found in a cup of coffee, falling within the scope of effectiveness.

Phosphatidylserine

Some clinical trials have found that phosphatidylserine can boost short-term brain function (source, source).

But the trials used doses of 300 mg and 400 mg, which are 2 to 3 times higher than the amount in Consciousness.

Astragin

Astragin is basically a combination of Astragalus Root Extract and Ginseng Root Extract and is generally used to enhance nutrient absorption.

However, there’s limited evidence to prove that this is, in fact, the case.

Huperzia Serrata

Huperzia Serrate is a plant that contains a component called Huperzine A. This substance is known to help improve mental abilities by stopping the breakdown of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter important for learning.

A 2011 medical study reveals that 400 micrograms (mcg) of Huperzine A could improve cognitive functions. However, Consciousness includes 10 milligrams of Huperzia Serrate, but only 1% of that, or 100 micrograms (mcg), is Huperzine A.

Therefore, it appears that Consciousness may not contain a sufficient amount of Huperzine A.

What Do Real Users Have To Say?

A YouTube creator with the channel “Every Day People Reviews” reviewed Consciousness after supposedly two years of use:

Another YouTube creator by the name of “Unknown Pharaoh” gives his own short take on Genius Consciousness.

Here are also some real users reviews from websites such as Amazon and Walmart:

“I really like this supplement and it is formulated and works as it is marketed; a supplement to help make one alert and aid in the ability to focus on tasks. There are also no food colorings, no fillers, and no artificial ingredients or sweeteners.

I have taken other supplements, from other companies, that were supposed to be some sort of brain formula or something like this one is. One had way too much caffeine and another had to many nootropic related supplements together. Both caused jitters and a weird uneasy icky feeling. They made me feel just wrong.

This one however feels great, it woke me up a little and gently. I liked that it didn’t snap me awake or even eventually make me a little hyper or tweaky. The “woke me up a little” was perfect as I was not looking for an energy elixir. In my opinion this supplement has the perfect amount of caffeine, for me, according to what it’s marketed for and as. I was alert and able to keep focus on things which is important in my job as I have to do constantly do research, diagnosis, and troubleshooting.

For a week I took it as directed then experimented with higher and lower dosages. With higher dosages it did affect me more noticeably but I still didn’t get tweaky, get the jitters, or feel uneasy even when increasing the dosage all the way up to 1.5 grams more than recommended. With some supplements you may get a cloudy head or it’s slightly harder to keep concentration when using more than the recommended dosage but not with this supplement.

Lower dosages did not change the affects much however I only lowered to no more than a maximum of .8 grams lower than recommended. This tells me that the ingredients are working synergistically to provide the best results at various dosages so you will reap the benefits within a wide range dosages.

The ingredients are top notch and the ones I look for when looking at supplements. I can only say, because it’s too much to explain here, you should research them to understand how important they are, what they do, and how together they make this supplement great.

The powder is very light but dense so if you use a scale to measure/weigh out the amount be careful not to poor too quickly as a small amount of powder could be a large dosage. Because it is so dense not all of the powder dissolves. I found no matter how I tried to mix it (using room temperature water, mixing longer, using a shaker) there was still some powder left undissolved. It’s not a lot but enough that when getting to the bottom I needed to stir several times, or add water again when done, in order to get all of it. Although it doesn’t dissolve or mix completely the powder is not gritty or bad tasting by itself so a concentrated bit of powder in my mouth was easy to deal with.

The taste is very subtle and light, almost dull. It’s not very tart or too sweet, since Stevia extract is used as the sweetener, even at higher dosages or when using less fluid.
I only used water to mix with and at the recommended 8-12 oz. of water the flavor was light feeling and a bit diluted. I tried various amounts of water and the best flavor, for me, was at 6-8 oz. At the lower amount of water the flavor still tasted slightly diluted because it is such a “light” feel and flavor. It obviously got stronger but changed a little too. You could taste that it was a bit more bitter with a slight tininess but still not a bad taste.

Affects = Able to think clearly and focus on tasks.
Effects = No side effects or bad feelings. It wakes me up and makes me alert with no jitters.
Taste = Very light and almost as if diluted.
Smell = Smells fruity with a hint of mineral undertones.
Formula = On point, excellent choice of ingredients and perfect quantities of each. No fillers, no artificial ingredients, no food coloring.

The only reason I give it 4 stars, instead of 5, is because the powder does not dissolve well enough for me and because of the diluted, almost dull flavor.
This makes a great coffee substitute, I recommend trying this, and will purchase it again.” – Mighty Mouse

“Only knocked off 1 star because I think there is too little product for the $$$. 15 servings for $40+ , could include more product at least. But I will say this has DEFINITELY worked for me. I have a mentally demanding job, and I’m not diagnosed with any concentration issues but just was looking for the extra push for focus because I was drinking and resorting to drinking tooo much coffee which wasn’t actually doing anything for my focus or work ethic. Thankfully I discovered this product and I’m hooked! This has DRAMATICALLY reduced my coffee drinking. I used to drink at least 2-3 cups/day. I now drink 3 or less cups A WEEK if that. I don’t even crave coffee anymore. The taste is not bad, I don’t mind it so could improve there but overall this works. I’m able to focus and hone in on my work tasks. Although, I do see it does wear off in about 3hrs or so but maybe that’s just my metabolism. I have also sipped on it slowly w/ about 20oz of water and felt that makes it stretch its effect for the day. I take it early in the AM and feel NO crash later on the day. Anyways it’s still worth all the hype reviews on Amazon.” – Zai

“I waited a while to try this product. I love the Genius Mushrooms and thought I’d see what benefits I could get from this.

Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The powder didn’t dissolve well in water despite a lot of stirring and shaking. The taste was gritty and a bit earthy, not horrible but not good, especially considering I like the taste of watermelon. I did choke it all down, though.

As for the effects, as I told a friend afterwards, I felt a bit “weird” but hard to describe. A bit more energy, but also a slight sense of floatiness. Not a significant benefit.

I might give it another chance or two to see if my body gets used to it, but I’m not sure I can get past the taste. The company and some of their products do seem great, but this one just wasn’t for me.” – Elle G

How Much Does It Cost?

Consciousness will set you back roughly $38 for 15 servings of the product, which is equivalent to $2.5 per serving.

The price is a bit steep even when you use the ‘Starbucks cup of coffee comparison’ because it almost costs the same.

The difference is that it contains a whole lot more than just caffeine, so from that angle, it might actually be worth the price.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it vegan-friendly and gluten-free?

While it’s not explicitly stated on the label that the product is suitable for vegans, it does not contain any animal ingredients, which means it’s vegan-friendly.

Genius also reveals (on its website) that all of its products are gluten-free.

How long does it take to feel its effects after consumption?

This depends on the individual but some people report its benefits after a few hours.

Is there a risk of building up a tolerance to Genius Consciousness?

With many nootropics, there’s a risk of building up tolerance. For example, with the ingredients like caffeine, it’s very natural for you to build up tolerance over time. That’s why cycling is sometimes advised.

Is the product tested for harmful substances or contaminants?

Yes, Conciousness is third-party tested for quality and safety, so it’s very unlikely that it contains harmful substances or contaminants.

Is Genius Consciousness suitable for all ages?

Genius Consciousness is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. It’s also advised not to use the product if you’re pregnant or nursing.

What are the storage instructions for Genius Consciousness?

Like most other supplements, Consciousness should be stored stored in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight, but if you’re curious, check the label for instruction (that should be stated).

Is Genius Consciousness Worth It?

To put it simply, based on the information I’ve found, it seems like Genius Consciousness is underdosed when it comes to the ingredients that are backed by more compelling scientific evidence.

However, it’s also the case that it has tons of positive reviews on online retailers such as Amazon and Walmart. This isn’t to say that the overwhelming number of the reviews are positive, but on average, people do feel benefits.

I think it’s worth a try, and if you end up not feeling anything, you can always ask for a refund within 90 days of trying the product.
