You’re looking for a powerful testosterone booster but don’t know whether AndroSurge is the right choice?
In this article, we’ll look at its ingredients and assess whether they’re effective at supporting or improving testosterone levels.
What Is AndroSurge?
According to Jacked Factory, AndroSurge is the first scientifically-dosed, non-proprietary blend, all-natural estrogen reducing supplement for men.
Estrogen blockers, also known as antiestrogens, are supplements that act by blocking the estrogen receptor (ER), thus suppressing estrogen production.
There is evidence suggesting that lowering estradiol levels (an estrogen) is associated with an increase in levels of LH, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), and testosterone. 1
As you know, testosterone is a crucial hormone in men and women that affects many bodily functions— it regulates sex drive (libido), bone mass, fat distribution, muscle mass, and strength, as well as the production of red blood cells and sperm.
An estrogen blocker (and testosterone booster) is a solution that can help on many fronts, and AndroSurge is one that bodybuilders and powerlifters use to be able to gain muscle, burn fat, and lead energetic lives.
What’s In AndroSurge?
One tub of AndroSurge provides vitamin D (1000 IU), zinc (9.5mg), grape seed extract (150mg), DIM or diindolylmethane (150mg), rhodiola root extract (125mg), eurycoma longifolia root extract (100mg), and Bioperine or black pepper extract (5mg).
Vitamin D is a fat-soluble diet that our skin synthesizes when exposed to the sun, though you can also find it in certain foods.
Supplemental vitamin D is associated with many benefits, including increased cognition, immune health, bone health 2, and well-being. People deficient in vitamin D may experience decreased testosterone levels, which can be solved through proper supplementation 3.
Supplementation can also reduce the risk of colorectal cancer 4, heart disease 5, diabetes, and multiple sclerosis.
The goal of vitamin D in AndroSurge is to help increase testosterone levels, and according to the evidence available, it does seem to have that effect.
Zinc is an essential mineral that is involved in several bodily functions.
It’s most commonly taken to reduce the frequency of illness and to support optimal levels of testosterone, which is essentially the role it is supposed to play in this supplement. 6
Zinc, at high dosages, is also used to reduce the duration of common colds, although it’s difficult to ascertain whether it reduces the risk of getting colds or reducing the severity of its symptoms. 7
Grape Seed Extract
Grape Seed Extract is essentially a mixture of tannins and procyanidins (chains of catechins) that seem to exert anti-estrogenic effects and may enhance blood flow. 8, 9
The role this ingredient plays in the supplement is simple— suppress estrogen to enhance testosterone, which in itself can have a positive impact on your weight.
With that being said, the evidence available is not significant.
Diindolylmethane (or DIM) is a molecule that is named after its structure, which is two indole groups attached to a methane group.
DIM is commonly found in broccoli, kale, and cauliflower. Some of the studies suggest that DIM can keep the body well-balanced by preventing drastic increases/decreases in estrogen.
Some preliminary evidence also points out DIM has anti-cancer and aromatase inhibiting effects.
Rhodiola Root Extract
Rhodiola Rosea is a herb that is recognized for its adaptogenic properties, namely in reducing fatigue and exhaustion in prolonged stressful situations. 10
In fact, this effect does seem to be quite reliable, particularly when it is a low dose given over a prolonged period of time or a high dose is given sporadically.
Reducing fatigue levels is helpful in having a more productive and prolonged exercise routine.
Eurycoma Longifolia Root Extract
According to Jacked Factory, Eurycoma Longifolia helps support the natural production of testosterone, however, there’s really no convincing evidence that can prove that.
Some studies suggest that it has a minor effect on cortisol reduction and libido increase, but more evidence is required in order to be certain. 11, 12
Bioperine (Black Pepper Extract)
Bioperine typically plays the same role in most supplements— it acts as an absorption enhancer, allowing some vitamins and minerals to become more bioavailable to the body.
Studies show that Bioperine can increase the absorption of different plant compounds, including tea polyphenols, curcumin, beta carotene, and selenium. 13, 14
However, I’m not sure whether that effect might be transversal to other compounds.
How Much Does AndroSurge Cost?
AndroSurge contains 60 servings for $35.99, or $0.59 per serving. That is quite affordable for a testosterone booster; especially when compared to other testosterone boosters that cost between $0.80 and $1 per serving.
Is AndroSurge Effective?
AndroSurge contains a variety of ingredients, many of which support the production of testosterone, often by regulating the amount of estrogen the body is able to produce.
For instance, it contains vitamins and minerals such as vitamin D and zinc, which are often associated with the production of testosterone. Both vitamin D and zinc deficiencies are associated with abnormally low testosterone concentrations, and in this particular case, their consumption increases testosterone levels.
Grape seed extract and DIM (diindolylmethane) are two other ingredients that are known to support healthy testosterone levels, mainly by suppressing/regulating estrogen production.
However, I do feel like more studies are required to be able to properly assess these ingredients. Even though they have promising results, the sample size is scarce.
With that being said, a lot of the reviews available online suggest that AndroSurge is quite effective, in fact, out of the almost 8000 reviews on Amazon, 80% of them are positive.
