Just like dairy cheese, vegan cheese is available in a wide range of varieties. It’s made completely without animal products and you can often find ingredients derived from tree nuts like almonds, cashews, peanuts, or pine nuts.
Finding vegan cheese at the supermarket nowadays is not difficult. For example, at Walmart (or at least, some of them), you’re able to find vegan Daiya cheese next to the dairy cheese.
At other supermarkets like Whole Foods, you’ll also be able to find vegan cheese in a similar setting to Walmart, though it’s possible that at some locations they may be near products like tofu or seitan.
In this article, I’ll point out which stores sell vegan cheese, where you can commonly find it, and I’ll also share great recipes that include vegan cheese.
What Stores Sell Vegan Cheese?
Here are some of the stores where you can find vegan cheese:
- Amazon – Hands down the best online retailer to get access to a wide variety of vegan cheese. At Amazon, you can find brands such as Daiya, Follow Your Heart, Violife, and more.
- Walmart – As I’ve mentioned at the beginning of this blog post, it’s possible to find vegan cheese at Walmart, generally next to dairy cheese. But if you wish to order vegan cheese online, Walmart also has many varieties available, including grated parmesan.
- Whole Foods – What’s particularly awesome about Whole Foods is that they have launched their very own vegan cheese line under the 365 brands. It’s amazing!
- Target – Akin to Amazon and Walmart, Target is a retailer where you can find different varieties of vegan cheese, which you can also order online.
- Safeway – At Safeway, you’re able to find a few vegan cheese options, but it’s not as abundant as Amazon or Walmart.
- Kroger – This supermarket is another good one to find vegan options. You can find a lot of vegan cheese from Daiya, as well as Simple Truth.
- Publix – This is yet another supermarket that is likely to contain vegan cheese.
In Which Aisle Can You Find Vegan Cheese?
In most supermarkets or grocery stores in the United States, you will find that vegan cheese is located next to dairy cheese, as I’ve shown you at the beginning of this article.
In the UK, however, vegans have a supermarket like ASDA that has an entire aisle dedicated to vegans who want to purchase plant-based products.
However, in most places, you will find vegan products mixed with non-vegan products. Though, with the growing demand for vegan products – a dedicated vegan aisle seems like an approach that will be adopted eventually.
