Rae Wellness is a fast-growing vegan brand that offers wellness solutions at a competitive price while creating formulas that are equal to or comparable to premium brands.

If you’re someone who perhaps struggles with depression or mood issues amid menstruation or throughout different stages of pregnancy, and want a solution to level your hormones and start feeling more balanced, less moody, and happier, then Rae’s Hormone Rebalance formula is one you should try.

In this article, I will be covering what this supplement is all about, including doing a deep dive into each of its ingredients to determine whether it’s actually effective.

Main Takeaways

  • Priced between $11.99 to $14.99 for 60 capsules, this supplement is an affordable option for those looking to try a hormone-support supplement without breaking the bank. The variety of ingredients it boasts makes it an intriguing choice.
  • A drawback is the lack of transparency in the quantities of each ingredient in the proprietary blend, which makes it difficult to assess their effectiveness.
  • While some ingredients have supporting evidence, others like Cordyceps are not well-studied, so I would take some of the ingredients with a grain of salt.

What Is Rae’s Hormone Rebalance?

Rae’s Hormone Balance is a supplement that was designed to provide you with extra support for common symptoms of a normal monthly cycle, allowing you to feel more balanced each month.

It consists of a powerful blend of vitamins, mushroom extracts, and herbs, which are touted for their adaptogenic properties. In other words, they reinforce your cognitive system, allowing you to experience a variety of benefits.

One of those benefits is anti-depression, as well as calmness. These effects prevent you from having drastic mood swings whenever you’re dealing with your menstruation cycle or any other circumstance where your hormones may be irregular.

Ingredients & Potential Benefits

As I’ve just mentioned, Rae’s Hormone Rebalance has a variety of ingredients, and many of them have been extracted from unique plants with adaptogenic and antioxidant properties.

The list of ingredients includes:

  • Proprietary Blend (with ingredients such as black cohosh root powder, lavender aerial extract, blessed thistle herb powder, and an enzyme blend comprised of amylase, cellulase, lactase, lipase, and protease.
  • St John’s Wort Aerial Herb Extract
  • Dandelion Root Extract
  • Cordyceps Mushroom Extract
  • Reishi Mushroom Powder Extract
  • Himalayan Pink Salt
  • Black Pepper Fruit Extract.

Let’s have a more in-depth look at the ingredients in this formula.

Proprietary Blend

This particular blend contains several herbs, so their effects are various.

For instance, black cohosh is quite popular in North America and has long been used to treat inflammation and cognitive disorders. However, in recent years, it has gained recognition for its effectiveness in treating menopausal vasomotor symptoms, particularly hot flashes and night sweats. 1

Lavender, on the other hand, contains anxiety-reducing properties. Although it does a sedative effect, lavender can improve sleep quality, as well as reduce insomnia. 2, 3 Some evidence suggests lavender can increase slow-wave sleep patterns. Whether those effects are the same when you consume them in a pill is difficult to conclude.

Another herb you will find in this proprietary blend is blessed thistle, which was quite popular during the Middle Ages and used as a tonic for monks and as a remedy for the bubonic plague. Today, it can be made into tea and used to treat indigestion, loss of appetite, cough, fever, bacterial infections, diarrhea, and colds. It is also employed as a diuretic to increase urine production and to encourage nursing mothers’ production of breast milk. 4

This proprietary blend also contains digestive enzymes, which essentially support healthy digestion, allowing you to absorb nutrients more efficiently, and even keep inflammatory conditions at bay.

With being said, I have to say that I take issue with proprietary blends, particularly because it’s not possible to know how much of each ingredient is included in the formula, making it difficult to assess its effectiveness.

St. John’s Wort

St. John’s Wort, also known as Hypericum Perforatum, is a plant whose active ingredient hypericin functions as a potent dopamine-related antidepressant.

According to a 2008 Cochrane Meta-Analysis of 29 trials (5489 patients) that were blinded and randomized in patients with major depression (according to DSM-IV criteria), St. John’s Wort was linked to fewer depressive symptoms in the trials against placebo. 5

In fact, based on this meta-analysis, St. John’s Wort, overall, appears to reduce depressive symptoms with a potency not significantly different than SSRIs and TCAs (Pharmaceutical anti-depressants).

Also, it’s worth mentioning that every study in this meta-analysis is high-quality, which means that St. John’s Wort does have anti-depressant effects.

Dandelion

Dandelion, or Taraxacum officinale, is a vegetable that most people mistake for a weed.

Akin to some of the other ingredients in this formula (like lavender and black pepper), dandelion is known to promote overall well-being— partly due to its mineral content and antioxidant properties.

Cordyceps Mushroom Extract

Cordyceps is a mushroom in Traditional Chinese Medicine and is touted for its anti-aging and pro-vitality effects, however, many of the claims are quite vague and haven’t been tested in humans.

Rae Wellness claims that it could play in regulating hormones, but I haven’t found any evidence.

Reishi Mushroom Powder Extract

Another mushroom that is frequently used in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Reishi is also known as the lingzhi mushroom, which is considered a potent immune system regulator, promising anti-cancer agent, and stress reducer.

However, for the purposes of comprehending its role in this supplement, I’ve looked specifically for neurological evidence and found that Reishi is able to induce relaxation and sleep. 6, 7, 8

With that being said, more research is required before these effects can be asserted with certainty.

Himalayan Pink Salt

Pink Himalayan salt is a type of salt that’s naturally pink in color and mined near the Himalayas in Pakistan, and while many people claim that it’s loaded with minerals and provides incredible health benefits, there’s little research on it, and hardly any reason to believe any claims.

However, it’s worth mentioning that compared to regular table salt, pink Himalayan salt has more minerals. Whilst salt is generally just sodium chloride, pink Himalayan salt has a variety of minerals and trace elements like potassium and calcium, as well as lesser-known minerals like strontium and molybdenum.

Therefore, it is a healthier option, as those minerals and trace elements contribute to your overall well-being.

Black Pepper Fruit Extract

The black pepper fruit extract is essentially a source of piperine, a molecule that doesn’t do much on its own but can stop enzymes from attacking other molecules.

As a result, it is taken along with other ingredients to speed up their absorption rates. However, this doesn’t mean that it works for every ingredient. According to research, it seems to work really well with curcumin.

So, Does Rae’s Hormone Rebalance Actually Work?

Based on the ingredients it contains and their respective doses, Rae’s Hormone Rebalance pills should be able to exert some neurological effects on the consumer, namely when it comes to promoting serenity and sleep.

Ingredients such as black cohosh, lavender, St. John’s Wort, and the Reishi mushroom extract are responsible for these adaptogenic benefits and should help rebalance your psyche, especially when you’re feeling emotionally more fragile due to a hormonal imbalance.

Therefore, if you want a supplement that helps you cope with mild depression, mood issues, and other symptoms associated with your monthly cycle, then Rae’s Hormone Rebalance could prove helpful.

How Much Does It Cost?

The price range for Rae’s Hormone Rebalance formula can go from $11.99 to $14.99 for a single tube with 60 capsules, which is the equivalent of 30 servings.

This means that each serving can cost between $0.40 and $0.50 which is quite affordable for a supplement with such a unique variety of ingredients. It also means that if you wish to test the supplement, it’s not much of a problem because you don’t have to invest as much.
