This time around we will be reviewing a vegan-friendly multivitamin and multimineral supplement that is produced by the Performance Lab brand – the Performance Lab Nutrigenesis Multi.
Multivitamin supplements are among the most popular dietary supplements. Not surprising considering they’re seen as a shortcut to increase the dietary intake of fundamental nutrients.
Nutritionists defend that it’s always best to consume all of the vitamins and minerals you need by following a varied diet and a healthy overall lifestyle, but that may not always be possible.
Sometimes life throws us curveballs so maintaining a well-balanced diet isn’t always possible, particularly if we have a busy lifestyle.
This is where the Performance Lab Nutrigesis Multi comes in.
In this article, we will be looking at the ingredients, benefits, price, and potential side effects of Performance Lab Nutrigenesis Multi and determine whether it’s worth it.
Is Performance Lab Legitimate?
Performance Lab supplements are produced by Opti Nutra Advanced Nutraceuticals based in the U.K – a line of supplements that uses branded ingredients, advanced nutritional technologies, while also taking a more eco and vegan-friendly approach to production.
The supplements contain patented and trademarked versions of essential ingredients that supposedly outperform their standard forms. According to Opti Nutra Advanced Nutraceuticals, their ingredients are more potent, have more bioavailability, as well as a higher level of purity.
Performance Lab supplements are vegan-friendly, which allows anyone, regardless of their diet, to use its supplements. Some plant-based features include its prebiotic-infused vegan capsules and vegan soft gels.
Supplements Are Controlled For Quality
The way that Performance Lab manages to uphold a high standard and ensure that its supplements are a cut above the rest is through several implementations, including:
- Ingredients are non-GMO, non-irradiated, and 100% free of gluten, allergens, synthetic additives, artificial colors, and preservatives;
- Most products contain no fillers, though in cases where fillers are necessary they use natural fillers such as Nu-Flow Rice.
- Fully displaying ingredients and dosages on its labels;
- Using its own ultramodern 100% plant-based capsules made from pullulan (fermented tapioca);
- Using flavors naturally derived from plants, including organic cocoa, vanilla, Ceylon cinnamon, coconut palm sugar, yacon root, monk fruit, and stevia;
- Having their supplements sent to an external third-party laboratory for analysis and backed by extensive quality control processes.
However, this also means that Performance Lab products are premium-priced, so they’re available at a higher price point than most supplements.
Performance Lab Multi – Introduction
The Nutrigenesis Multi is an ultramodern multivitamin designed to improve overall health, as well as aid human performance.
It contains over 17 essential daily vitamins and minerals and has two formulations: one designed for men and one for women.
These separate formulations are crucial because men and women have slightly different dietary needs. The men’s formulation contains higher amounts of zinc, which is crucial for balancing testosterone levels as well as supporting a healthy prostate, while the women’s version contains more iron as women experience blood loss from menstruation.
Nutrigenesis Multi also contains whole-food cofactors, which are nutrients that increase the bioavailability of other nutrients, so they have a synergistic nature. This is something you can also do with your diet – for instance, if you wish to increase your iron intake, you also consume vitamin C alongside it.
This supplement, like most Performance Lab supplements, uses capsules made from fermented tapioca that feature superb disintegration properties that promote easy digestion, as well as oxygen barrier properties that protect nutrients from the damaging effects of moisture and oxidation.
These capsules are a better option than cellulose-based capsules which often seem natural but may be made from semi-synthetic polymer – not as eco-friendly of an option.
NutriGenesis Multi is free of GMOs or additives, and because it’s lab-grown, it’s also free of pesticides and herbicides.
What Ingredients Does It Contain?
Let’s begin this section by looking at the supplement fact’s panel for both the men’s and women’s versions of these supplements.
Here is the men’s formula:
And here is the women’s formula:
Compared to cheaper multivitamin options, the Nutrigenesis Multi contains many active ingredients, namely 27 active ingredients that our body requires to function.
The difference between the men’s and the women’s versions is that the doses have been slightly adjusted for some ingredients.
For example, the amount of zinc is superior in the men’s version, as men require more zinc for the regulation of testosterone and to support a healthy prostate.
The women’s version, on the other hand, contains more iron, as women lose more blood due to menstruation, hence the need to restore higher quantities of iron.
Unlike most multivitamin supplements, Performance Lab also has nutrients like boron and inositol.
Boron is used for building stronger bones, treating osteoarthritis, and it also helps build muscle and increase testosterone levels. Some evidence also suggests it can improve thinking skills and muscle coordination.
Inositol is associated with benefits such as anxiety reduction, blood sugar control, improving fertility in women, as well as aiding with depression.
Nutrigenesis Multi seems to pack a whole lot more than the regular multivitamin, which is why it’s among the most popular products within Performance Lab’s range of supplements.
How To Take It
Each bottle of Nutrigenesis Multi comes with 120 capsules, and Performance Lab suggests that you should take 4 capsules on a daily basis, which means that one bottle should last you 30 days.
This is where I have a problem with this supplement because it requires you to take 4 capsules to hit the doses shown on the supplement facts panel – and that’s quite inconvenient, especially when you know that other supplements allow you to do that with 2 capsules.
However, this can also be explained by the variety of active ingredients in each capsule, as well as the fact that higher doses take up more space in a capsule.
Before you actually take the supplement, make sure that you check and carefully read the instructions and warnings on the label.
Does It Have Any Side Effects?
Multivitamin supplements are generally safe, but it’s always recommended that you speak to your doctor before taking any new supplements for the first time.
This is particularly important if you have underlying health conditions or you are pregnant.
Multivitamins don’t usually lead to problems because they’re merely comprised of vitamins and minerals, often derived from whole foods, but you still have to be on the safe side. You should also check if a given supplement contains allergens, and ensure that you’re not allergic to any ingredients.
Also, read the warnings on the label to ensure you’re taking the supplement in the proper manner.
How Much Does It Cost?
Unfortunately, as a premium supplement, Nutrigenesis Multi has a higher price tag.
The one bottle with 120 capsules (which is equivalent to 30 servings) costs £29/$39, however, you can get a discount if you’re willing to buy more than a bottle.
Another drawback to this supplement is the fact that you can only find it via Performance Lab’s official website – as they do not sell their products on retailers (or other online markets).
Shipping and Returns
Performance Lab offers fast shipping along with tracking for all of its customers.
They generally ship the products within 24 hours of placed orders if those orders are placed during business days, however, if you place an order during the weekend – expect it to be shipped the next business day.
Performance Lab will refund unsatisfied customers. They have a 60-day risk-free money-back guarantee on all of their products. Those who are unsatisfied with their purchase upon receiving it will need to contact the customer support team within 7 days of receiving their order in order to return their item(s).
Those who are unsatisfied with their product(s) after trying them out for the first time may also return their product for a refund.
However, keep in mind that the 60-day money-back guarantee only applies to first-time orders of any supplement, up to a maximum of one container of each individual product.
Our Final Thoughts
Performance Lab creates high-quality supplements, and Nutrigenesis Multi (both men’s and women’s versions) are good examples of such supplements.
However, they’re not perfect supplements, and there are certain aspects to them that we do not appreciate, namely the fact you have to take 4 capsules per day to meet the RDI’s on the supplement facts panel.
Some people will also not appreciate the fact it costs way more than most multivitamin supplements, as well as the fact it’s only available through their official website.
With that being said, this supplement contains a wide variety of nutrients delivered in scientifically-backed doses – something that can’t be said about most supplements. It is also free from GMOs, allergens, synthetic additives, artificial colors, and preservatives.
More importantly, as far as we are concerned, it’s a supplement that is suitable for vegans. It contains capsules made from fermented tapioca with disintegration properties that make them easy to digest, while also protecting the nutrients from the potentially damaging effects of moisture and oxidation.
This is a supplement that we recommend, not only because it’s vegan-friendly, but because it’s a great multivitamin with great ingredients and a reputable brand behind it.
