Hum Nutrition Private Party Review | Does It Work?

Hum Nutrition claims that Private Party can effectively support vaginal pH balance and urinary tract health, as well as promote a healthy microbiome. All this is deemed possible through the inclusion of three strains of probiotics and cranberry extract.

But can these claims be proven through scientific evidence or is Hum Nutrition just going overboard with the marketing? Also, does this formula contain any harmful additives? And what do real people have to say about Private Party?

In this article, I’ll be answering all of these questions and more as we analyze the ingredients in Private Party. We will also review relevant medical research to give our take on whether this formula is effective.

Main Takeaways

  • The specific strains of Lactobacillus in Private Party may not be the most crucial for vaginal health, but studies have shown that L. acidophilus and L. rhamnosus, two of the strains in Private Party, exhibit antimicrobial activity against pathogens associated with bacterial vaginosis and aerobic vaginitis.
  • Research on cranberry products for UTI prevention has been inconsistent, with some studies showing a reduction in UTIs while others show no significant difference compared to a placebo. The effectiveness of cranberry extract for vaginal health remains uncertain.
  • Based on customer reviews observed in third-party website or retailers, it seems that many people have had positive results with Private Party, which I found surprising considering the lack of high-quality evidence to back up the product’s claims.

Ingredient Analysis

As you can see from the image above, Private Party contains ingredients – a probiotic blend with L. acidophilus, L. rhamnosus, L. reuteri, and cranberry extract.

Hum Nutrition affirms that its blend of probiotics can maintain vaginal pH balance for healthy levels of yeast and overall vaginal health.

According to a recent study on the role of probiotics in vaginal health, probiotics are beneficial microorganisms that colonize the human reproductive tract and can indeed positively impact vaginal health.

Within the normal flora, Lactobacillus is the predominant microorganism in a healthy vagina, comprising approximately 95% of the vaginal microbiota.

Lactobacillus species such as L. crispatus, L. gasseri, and L. jensenii play a crucial role in maintaining vaginal health. These species produce lactic acid and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), which help to acidify the vaginal environment and inhibit the growth of harmful microorganisms.

These are not the same species you find within Private Party, although they’re still part of the Lactobacillus species, which the study says produce metabolites that stimulate the production of antimicrobial peptides and anti-inflammatory cytokines in the host.

Does this mean that Private Party contains probiotic strains that are not deemed the most crucial for vaginal health?

Well, a different study examining the effects of L. acidophilus and L. rhamnosus against four different pathogens associated with bacterial vaginosis and aerobic vaginitis.

The study found that the tested Lactobacillus strains and their combination exhibited antimicrobial activity against the aforementioned pathogens.

L. acidophilus, in particular, demonstrated strong antagonistic effects against the anaerobic strains.

This could be attributed to the production of compounds such as lactic acid, hydrogen peroxide, and bacteriocins, which are more prominent in L. acidophilus compared to L. rhamnosus.

In conclusion, two of the three Lactobacillus strains in Private Party seem to have a positive effect on vaginal health.

Now, what about cranberry extract? This is not the first time I’ve come across cranberry extract in supplements that supposedly support vaginal health.

Well, according to recent research, cranberry shows potential benefits in preventing urinary tract infections (UTIs), particularly in women with a history of recurrent UTIs.

The study, conducted by researchers from the Cochrane Collaboration, evaluated the scientific evidence regarding the consumption of cranberry products and their effect on reducing the likelihood of UTIs.

The researchers conducted a review of existing studies that compared cranberry juice, capsules, or tablets with a placebo or water for UTI prevention.

They identified 10 studies involving 1,049 participants that met their inclusion criteria.

The results indicated that over a 12-month period, cranberry products reduced the overall incidence of UTIs by 35%.

In women with recurrent symptomatic UTIs, cranberries reduced the annual rate of new infections by 39%. However, cranberries were found to be ineffective in individuals with bladder problems involving catheterization.

It’s also important to mention that there are limitations in the reviewed studies given inconsistency in dosing and the concentration of cranberries.

The chemical composition of cranberry products was not standardized, and the bioequivalence between different forms (juice, capsules, tablets) was unknown.

After a few years, the study was updated and they included 14 more studies. The researchers found out that cranberry is not as effective as they thought before.

While a few small studies showed a slight advantage for women with recurring UTIs, the results didn’t show any important differences when they looked at a much larger study. Cranberry products didn’t show a significant difference compared to antibiotics in preventing UTIs in three small studies.

As such, it’s certainly not the case that cranberry is actually effective for vaginal health.

Does It Have Harmful Additives?

In addition to the aforementioned ingredients, Private Party also contains the following additional ingredients:

  • Rice maltodextrin
  • Delayed release vegetable capsule (made from hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, pectin, and water)
  • Bamboo extract
  • Medium-chain triglycerides

None of these ingredients represent any real threat, and according to regulatory agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), they’re generally considered as being safe.

With that being said, it’s always a good idea to consult with your healthcare professional before taking any supplement.

What Do Real Users Have To Say?

This is a video from a Youtube creator called Morgen Raeh sharing her experience with Private Party:

It’s also meaningful, in my view, to look at customer reviews on third-party websites or retailers to see what’s the response overall response.

On Amazon, Skinny Bird has over 2500 reviews, and it has 4.5/5 stars, which is certainly a pretty good rating, especially considering the ingredient analysis we did earlier to determine its effectiveness.

Here are some of the more relevant reviews from real customers:

“I’d had a lot of intermittent UTI’s. We’d do cultures and they were nearly always negative. Nothing I did helped. Well, long story shot I learned I had a yeast infection. Never had the normal symptoms and I’ve VERY doctor phobic so it’s possible I’ve had it for a few years. I’d hod to go on diflucan for 2 months and that caused things to flare up… It was not just noticeable, I was in agony. The meds were helping, but not enough. This was one of the many things I’d bought to try in an effort to get relief AND help get better. I just set up a monthly subscription because this worked so well, and so fast, I can’t see the sense in stopping anytime soon. The products description says 4-6 weeks but within three days I saw a real change. Two months of a prescription oral med and various topical creams didn’t suddenly start to work after all that time. This is the only thing different. I clearly needed a boost cause the drugs alone weren’t going to cut it and this gave me that.

If you’re on the fence just try it, you won’t regret it. It was also easy to take which is saying something. My stomach has NOT been happy on the diflucan and the bladder pain just made things so much worse. I lost several pounds. Normally I don’t have an issue with pills but simply swallowing soft food was a challenge, forget keeping it down. These aren’t too big, and it’s easy on the stomach which has really helped since they can’t do anything if you can’t get/keep them down.” – Kate

“I actually just needed to replenish my HUM Nutrition vitamin supplenment pills I have. I have already been taking several various bottles of the HUM Nutrition regimine (from their website) also. I started taking these nutrition supplements about several months into my daily routine with ‘Private Party’ and I have seen MAJOR results in just a short amount of time. Within A DAY women will start seeing results! But, give it between a 2-3 week span or so, or perhaps several months into the HUM Nutrition regimine and women will see dramatic results in their urinary tract health and/or mild urinary tract infection go away completely. NO joke either. I have been post-menopausal (no menstral periods already due to a certain age with women) for a long time now and have noticed a dramatic change in the way my bottom feels after taking this supplement. No odor, no stickiness, and no chalkiness on my panties. I do NOT leave home without taking it. It’s my daily go-to pill for UTI and it WORKS! (you do not need a prescription medication for this either) By the way, this is for women with mild urinatry tract infection. Please see your OBGYN doctor (a gynecologist) for moderate to severe UTI.” – Reiko K.

“I have been getting minor YI’s or something around my period. I did try treating them with monistat at first and it didn’t make a difference as it always went away after about 5-7 days. It tried buying new underwear, different brands of pads or tampons. I tried two other regular probiotics and nothing was making a difference. it came back like clockwork every time. Decided to give this one a try and within one cycle/one bottle, they were gone and so far haven’t come back! It’s been 2 months now, itch free! I’m so relieved” – Katelynn

Conclusion

While not all ingredients within Private Party seem to be necessarily effective from a research perspective, the customer reviews on third-party websites appear to be mostly positive, which is surprising.

It could be that the probiotics alone may be responsible for the vaginal benefits, but that’s difficult to estimate.

With this being said, I think Private Party is worth a try, not because I trust the ingredients and evidence behind them, but because most people seem to have a positive experience. Additionally, it’s not an expensive product.
